There are many different tour option available, below are some of the great offers from RoamWild Tasmania group based out of Queenstown at the Lovely Paragon Theatre.
Lost mines, ancient pines
Pining and mining pioneers.
From 1881 Pioneering Miners and Piners along Macquarie harbour forged their way into the Wilderness seeking Gold. Not just gold in the streams and rock but also the golden timber of Huon Pine. King Billy, Sassafras and all the Tasmanian special timbers species growing in the most ancient forests.
Lake Margaret Hydropower
Water and home.
Lake Margaret experiences more days of rain than any other place in Australia. The Mt Lyell company built this 1912–1914 Hydropower scheme and village where for decades families lived and thrived. Operated and maintained by Hydro Tasmania since 1985 and still proudly roaring. Enjoy a cuppa with some cake in the village hall while perusing the professionally installed interpretations and enjoy the presentation. Reserve your place on the Lake Margaret Hydropower experience.
No dams: the blockade
The rivers run – natural conservation.
Spend time in one of only two places in the world that satisfies 7 of 10 criteria to be UNESCO recognised as a world heritage site. The Franklin/Gordon Wild Rivers world heritage wilderness was declared during the No Dams controversy. Find yourself in one of the worlds last truly wild places. Take advantage of our Tasmania Parks & Wildlife issued license for this exclusive experience. Includes remnants of the early 1980’s clash between dam builders and passionate conservationists
Mountain heights – wildlife nights
Scenery and nocturnal forest wonders.
We select 4×4 and travel up onto the Western Range plateau for the grandest of views. Way up here the communications hub for the hydro schemes construction was operated. Enjoy a snack and refreshment on the mountain whilst being dazzled by the views. As darkness creeps over the West check out the nocturnal forest wildlife wonders. Enjoy a hot night cap in a special place that never fails to delight.
Coach groups have the opportunity enjoy exclusive dining with a short film at the Paragon.
